New Pastoral Intern
We are excited to welcome Heather Robertson as our new pastoral intern for the next academic year. Heather will be with us for the next year as she finishes her final year of seminary online through Garrett Theological Seminary. The purpose of her internship is an opportunity for her to explore ministry as her vocational path with eye towards church planting. We hope to create a great deal of flexibility and space for interns to “stretch their legs” and try new things for the purpose of gaining insights and opportunities for reflection around vocational discernment.
What will Heather be doing?
Heather will be working directly with Pastor Josh in engaging the many different facets of Imago Dei. She will provide leadership support on Sunday mornings, preach a few times a year, she will partner with Formation team to investigate resources available to consider how to develop sermon series and how to integrate into other aspects of Imago Dei Church, including but not limited to children and families, small groups for all ages, and online.
What are Heather’s hopes for her time at Imago?
She hopes to connect with people and build relationships with the goal of developing opportunities through small groups where we can explore the theological concept of finding our meaning and purpose. This will include thinking about how pastors and leaders can encourage and walk alongside people as they pursue choosing to have their life of faith and day to day routine intersect.
Who is Heather?
”The opportunity to work alongside the faith community of Imago Dei Church is incredible. My story has been a winding path including time serving as a licensed pastor in the United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ. I am finishing up my coursework for a Master of Divinity degree at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. What comes next is a mystery. The path, while winding, is full of gratitude. One of my greatest sources of gratitude is my family: my husband Josh works for an orthotics company in Pekin, Ryder (11) is starting 6th grade, Johnathan (5) is starting kindergarten, and Julienna (2) is going to feel like it is forever before she gets to start school. We live in Pekin, where both Josh and I were raised. We are excited for this next stage of learning and growing. I am most excited to meet the people who create the mosaic that is Imago Dei.” - Heather Robertson
